Brief introduction of Panzhihua City
Established in 1965, Panzihua is a newly built immigrant city located in the adjacent area of Sichuan and Yunnan Provinces, with a total area of 7,440.4 km2 and a population of 1.07 million people composed of 42 ethnic groups. Panzhihua city is under the administrative jurisdiction of Sichuan Province and widely known for its iron-steel and titanium-vanadium industries and as the worldwide largest area of primitive Cycads

Sustainable Panzhihua Project (SPP)
The second Round China SCP Promotional Project builds upon the earlier (1997-2001) Sustainable Shenyang and Sustainable Wuhan Project experiences. The project was launched early 2005 after the agreement with UN-HABITAT and the Administrative Center for Chinafs Agenda 21 with the support of the Ministry of Science and Technology. As one of the three pilot implementing cities SPP is locally co-applied by The Administrative Center for Panzihua Agenda 21, Panzhihua Environmental protection Bureau, and Panzihua Science and technology Bureau. SPP aims to establish a long-term effective cooperation mechanisms to enhance the cityfs environmental planning and management, and to identify more effective solutions to air pollution.
