Mobilized broad-based participation of key stakeholders, and increased environmental awareness of decision makers, the general public, private sector and the local mass media.
Established a consolidated database and strengthened the capacities of the local government, which laid a solid foundation to develop a long-term development strategy for the city.
Strengthened cross-sectoral strategy development to prevent and control pollution at source, promoting a partnership approach amongst the Environmental Protection, Construction and Agriculture Bureaus. Established four cross-sectoral working groups: valley eco-protection, water exploitation, wastewater treatment, and information & Social propaganda development.
Developed the following demonstration projects: Watershed afforestation campaigns and recovery of green areas in the city, construction of wastewater treatment facility and drainage, propaganda campaigns on water efficiency and sanitation.
Created an information platform based on the City’s Environmental Profile which has improved environmental protection networking, and promoted environmental information sharing to ensure public access to information and optimize their participation in environmental protection.
Established incentive mechanisms and formulated new policies to award enterprises, organizations or individuals contributing to environmental protection.
Established a public hot line for information sharing.
